The Saudi Esports Federation is the regulating body in charge of nurturing elite gaming athletes and developing the gaming community and industry in Saudi Arabia. The Federation’s activities are categorized into two complementary streams. The first stream works to develop all levels of competitive gamers starting with the grassroots community level and moving up to professional esports athletes that can achieve global excellence. The second stream works to develop the entire gaming/esports value chain by catalyzing the industry and enabling talent. Since its establishment in late 2017, the federation has organised multiple world-class national and international tournaments and events, attracted investment from local private sector actors, and worked with international developers on opportunities in the Saudi market.
Gamers8’s Tekken 7 tournament is expected to attract top players from around the world. While it is not yet clear whether it will be an invitational or open tournament, some players have already expressed interest in the event, including Arslan Ash, Anakin, Spag, JoKa, NycFab, and Book. The tournament format and registration process are yet to be announced.
In addition to the Tekken 7 tournament, The Land of Heroes will feature seven other esports tournaments, each with a substantial prize pool. The Dota 2 tournament has the highest prize pool of all the tournaments, with $15 million up for grabs. The other tournaments also have substantial prize pools, with Fortnite at $2 million, PUBG Mobile at $3 million, Rainbow Six Siege at $2 million, CS:GO at $1 million, and Rocket League at $2 million. The combined prize pool for these tournaments is $27.5 million.
While Gamers8’s announcement of the record-breaking prize pool for the Tekken 7 tournament has generated excitement within the Tekken community, some players and commentators have expressed skepticism about the event. It remains to be seen how the tournament will be organized and how the massive prize pool will be distributed.
The Land of Heroes is set to be one of the most significant esports events in history, with a total prize pool of $45 million and eight different tournaments, including Tekken 7 with the largest prize pool in the game’s history. While the announcement has generated excitement within the gaming community, details about the tournaments and the registration process are yet to be announced, and some have expressed skepticism about the event.
Aziz Peregrino-Brimah aka Zee the CEO | Founder / Editor-in-chief of TekkenGamer | Gaming has been a passion of Zee's since the early days of Atari and ColecoVision. His first experience with Tekken was in the early 90's, and it was Tekken 3 that sealed the deal. True story... As a teenager Zee once received his Winn-Dixie paycheck and spent it all at the arcade the same day. Needless to say, his mother wasn't pleased.
