Is Heihachi Mishima still alive? That’s the question on every Tekken fan’s mind as they eagerly await the release of Tekken 8. While Heihachi’s apparent demise at the hands of his son Kazuya in Tekken 7 seems final, there are several clues that suggest he may not be dead after all.
First, let’s consider the circumstances surrounding Heihachi’s supposed death. In Tekken 7’s story mode, we see Kazuya throw Heihachi into a volcano during their final battle. It’s a dramatic and seemingly conclusive end to Heihachi’s story, but it’s worth noting that we never actually see Heihachi’s body after the fall. It’s entirely possible that he survived and managed to escape the volcano somehow.
Second, we have Leroy Smith’s bio in Tekken 8, which states: “Learning that the Mishima Zaibatsu was behind the large-scale gang conflict half a century ago, Leroy participates in The King of Iron Fist Tournament to crush the Mishima Zaibatsu, the culprit behind him. Just then, Heihachi Mishima, the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, goes missing, and G Company takes advantage of this opportunity to subdue the Mishima Zaibatsu.” Leroy is out for revenge against the Mishima family, and in particular, Kazuya. However, the bio also mentions that Heihachi has gone missing and that G Company has taken advantage of his absence. This could be a subtle hint that Heihachi is still alive and that his whereabouts are unknown. If Heihachi is indeed alive, it’s possible that he could make a return in Tekken 8 and play a role in the game’s story.
Third, let’s consider the fact that Heihachi is a beloved and iconic character in the Tekken series. It’s hard to imagine a Tekken game without him, and it’s possible that the developers at Bandai Namco feel the same way. Bringing Heihachi back could be a way to appease fans who were disappointed by his apparent death in Tekken 7.
Finally, we have the fact that several other Tekken characters are returning in Tekken 8, including Jun, Jin, Asuka, King, Lars, Marshall Law, Paul, Jack-8, Nina, Kazuya, and Xiaoyu. These characters have all been staples of the series for years, and it would make sense for Heihachi to join them in Tekken 8. After all, he’s one of the most recognizable and popular characters in the franchise.
Of course, all of this is purely speculation at this point. We won’t know for sure if Heihachi is still alive and returning until we get more information about Tekken 8. However, the clues and hints we’ve seen so far suggest that there’s a good chance we’ll see Heihachi again in some capacity. Whether he’s alive or not remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: if Heihachi does return in Tekken 8, it’ll be a moment that fans won’t soon forget.
