Does Jin Kazama now have full control over the devil gene?

One thing noticeable from the first gameplay trailer, right before Jin Kazama lands a devastating blow to his father Kazuya Mishima, is a visual of one of his devil gene appearances – black wings show up, signifying that this is possibly a “rage art” attack. But what if there is more meaning to it?

With the release of the new trailers and gameplay footage for Tekken 8, fans are absolutely hyped to see what Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco have in store for the story of the Mishima bloodline moving forward.

WHAT IF… Jin has finally retained power over his devil gene, just the same as Kazuya did at the end of the fourth installment of the series? Of course, there’s no evidence just yet to support this claim. However, I’d be doing a disservice to not at least bring awareness of this possibility and some potential anecdotes to at least get your gears turning.

Here’s a quick recap for context.

What happened at Honmaru

After Kazuya was resurrected by G.Corp, he had lots of time to study the in’s and out’s of his own devil gene. More importantly, he found out how to properly unify himself and the devil to be under his control entirely. After the devil showed itself to Heihachi Mishima at Honmaru, it realized it couldn’t just absorb Jin’s power on its own due to the Kazama bloodline running through his veins.

Kazuya then took that opportunity to fully fight from within, completely abolishing the devil’s persona and harnessing its power to his own will.

SO, we know it’s not impossible to take control of one’s own devil gene.

After Jin escaped Honmaru

Jin was having nightmares, which would be interpreted as communications by Azazel “The Rectifier”. (AKA the final boss of Tekken 6) Telling Jin that the source of the devil gene is from Azazel himself, and these communications would trigger the devil gene to take control. And with that, we know Azazel is the source of the devil gene, and Jin defeated him. One would assume with Azazel dead, all that possess the devil gene would follow suit?

NEWS FLASH: Jin is found in the desert, alive and with the devil gene tattoo still in his arm.

Back to my original statement.

With Azazel dead, Jin wasn’t having nightmares. There was nothing to trigger the devil gene to awaken during his coma.

At the very end of Tekken 7, Jin wakes up in his human form, stating he knows what he must do, and before the scene cuts to the credits you see the devil gene’s third eye appear on his forehead, as it would always show when he’s in his devil form.

With no third-party controlling the devil gene within Jin, I believe he now has full control and will use this in his conquest to defeat Kazuya once and for all. Or, I’ve just spent a whole hour writing and revising this whole idea just to be completely wrong.

Either way, what do you guys think?

Does Jin have full control over the devil gene? And if so, what do you think the future of Devil Jin as a playable character will be in Tekken 8?
